European Energy’s 115MW UK Solar Sale Marks a Green Milestone
European Energy has announced the successful divestment of three solar projects in the UK, totaling an impressive 115MW in combined capacity. The sale, made to an undisclosed buyer, includes the Marksbury Plain, Kincraig, and Vicarage Drove solar farms—each paving the way for a brighter, greener energy future.
Powering the Future with Corporate Partnerships
The flagship Marksbury Plain project, located near Bath, Somerset, will play a pivotal role in delivering clean energy to Asahi Europe & International. The renowned beverage company has entered a multi-year virtual power purchase agreement (PPA) to source solar power for its UK operations, including the production of Asahi drinks. This partnership exemplifies how corporations are leveraging renewable energy to meet sustainability goals while fostering long-term energy security.
Meanwhile, the Kincraig project in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and the Vicarage Drove project in Lincolnshire have also secured multi-year PPAs with a global corporate offtaker. Together, these solar farms are poised to generate over 120 GWh of clean energy annually, enough to power thousands of homes while significantly reducing carbon emissions. These projects underline the critical role of corporate partnerships in driving the energy transition.
A Strategic Leap for the UK’s Green Energy Landscape
Construction is well underway across all three sites, with grid connection slated for Q1 and Q2 of 2025. European Energy’s commitment to managing every stage of the project lifecycle—design, development, construction, and operation—has been pivotal in delivering these renewable energy assets.
Adam Spearey, UK Development Director for European Energy, expressed pride in the team’s ability to manage multiple solar farms across the UK simultaneously. “The significant value created across these three exemplar projects is testament to European Energy’s business model,” he said. “Our work contributes directly to the UK’s green transition, a vision we are deeply committed to.”
Expanding Horizons in Renewable Energy
Deputy CEO Jens-Peter Zink highlighted the UK’s evolution into a core market for European Energy. With an ambitious pipeline of solar, wind, and energy storage projects in development, the company is poised to lead the charge in transforming the UK’s energy landscape. The next wave of construction projects is already scheduled to break ground in 2025, reinforcing European Energy’s commitment to a sustainable future.
As the world faces increasing environmental challenges, the success of these solar projects underscores the importance of innovation and collaboration in the renewable energy sector. With initiatives like these, European Energy is not only meeting the demands of today but also laying the groundwork for a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow. #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #CorporatePPA #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergyFuture #EuropeanEnergy #NetZero #SustainableSolutions
