Independent power producer Silicon Ranch has reached a major milestone with the launch of its 58MW Scotford Solar Farm near Edmonton, Alberta. Now fully operational, this groundbreaking solar facility will provide Shell’s Energy and Chemicals Park, Scotford, with enough renewable energy to meet approximately 20% of the refinery’s energy needs over the next 25 years, and 100% of its electricity requirements at peak capacity. The Scotford Solar Farm stands out as Silicon Ranch’s first international solar project and the first large-scale photovoltaic (PV) facility to be installed in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland.
