R Power Lights Up Portugal with Trio of Solar Farms
Polish renewable energy developer R Power has reached a new milestone with the launch of three solar farms in Portugal, collectively boasting a total capacity of 22MW. These state-of-the-art facilities, located in Tremes, Alhais, and Elvas, are now connected to the Portuguese power grid, contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals.
A Growing Portfolio in Portugal
The three new solar farms mark an important step in R Power’s expansion across Portugal, with plans to commission additional projects by the end of the year. This will bring R Power’s operational solar portfolio in the country to approximately 35MW, solidifying its position as a key player in the European renewable energy market.
Innovative Solar Technology
Each site leverages cutting-edge technology to maximize efficiency:
- The Tremes facility in the Santarem region uses fixed mounting structures, ensuring stability and cost-effectiveness.
- The Alhais (Pombal region) and Elvas (Alentejo region) farms are equipped with tracking systems, which adjust the solar panels throughout the day to capture the most sunlight possible.
Across the three sites, over 40,000 solar panels have been installed, covering an expansive 45 hectares—equivalent to roughly 60 football fields.
